A 25-year-old woman was on Monday stabbed to death by her estranged husband in Nyaribo, Nyeri County.
David Karuru reportedly followed Mary Wangui, a mother of two children aged 6 and 1, to her house where he attacked and killed her.
According to the deceased’s housemate and childhood friend, Catherine Karimi, the estranged couple had earlier engaged in an argument near where they (Ms. Kirimi and Ms. Wangui) sold potato chips before he trailed them home.
Ms. Karimi stated that, at around 1am, she left the house to answer a call of nature before the suspect reportedly sneaked in and committed the act.
She added that she rushed back to the house upon hearing screams from the deceased and her child, only to meet the suspect fleeing and Ms. Wangui bleeding from the neck.
The victim’s mother, Jane Wachira, said the couple was constantly fighting and that she had asked her daughter to return home as she feared for her life.
She is now calling for swift justice for her daughter.
