, MOMBASA, Kenya, Aug 27 – Over 200 enumerators in Kilifi downed their tools on Tuesday demanding for Sh2,100 unpaid training allowances.
The enumerators rejected calls for dialogue by Mtwapa area chief Rose Kadenge saying they had not been given airtime allowances and logistical support.
“We’re very disappointed because the national census is being frustrated in Kilifi because of the challenges we face. Every content supervisor was entitled to Sh18,800 but none of these monies including allowances has been paid,” Erick Karissa said on Tuesday as the national census entered the fourth day.
