
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended the operating license for Modern Coast bus company.

This comes hours after a morning crash at Salama area on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway that left seven people dead and 62 injured.
”The Authority has initiated a thorough investigation into the company’s safety standards and operations,” a statement from NTSA Director General said.
The online portal has also been shut down and 88 buses grounded.
Police have been asked to impound any Modern Coast buses that will be found to be operating within the suspension period.
NTSA said that they are concerned by the increase in accidents involving their buses which they have described as near fatal occurrences.
On Wednesday, another Modern Coast bus was involved in accident with a Tahmeed bus in the same area.
