The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has asked teachers to boycott next week’s training on the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
In a statement seen by Citizen Digital on Wednesday, KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion termed the training as “a violation of the law”.
Over 91,000 teachers were expected to take part in the training that was scheduled to start on Tuesday.
But, in his statement, Sossion urged the educators to boycott the entire exercise in a bid to cripple the CBC reform process.
The Ministry of Education was yet to respond to the statement as at the time of publishing.
Ironically, however, the union previously fought the new curriculum on grounds that teachers had not been properly trained for it.
