Thursday June 6, 2019-President Uhuru Kenyatta has dealt the corrupt and those hiding looted money in sacks in their houses a severe blow after he reappointed Patrick Njoroge as the CBK Governor for another 4 years.
Njoroge’s term was in its final days but a steady currency, efforts to boost loans to small businesses and market-led bank consolidation put him in good standing to retain the job.
A special gazette notice revealed that Njoroge will continue to serve as the CBK Governor until 2023.
This comes just days after he announced the launch of the new currency notes as a tool to tackle money laundering and corruption in the country.
He has announced withdrawal of old 1000 notes from circulation in order to effectively deal with corruption and money laundering.
