Thursday April 11, 2019 – Nairobi Women Representative, Ester Passaris, has commented about the gory killing of Moi University Student, Ivy Wangechi.
Ivy, who was sixth year medical student at the institution, was hacked to death by her lover Naftali Kinuthia after she reportedly ignored her calls.
In his Wednesday testimony to the Eldoret East DCI boss, Ali Kingi, Kinuthia claimed he had invested money and emotions in the woman, but his love and financial kindness wasn’t reciprocated as per his expectations.
Naftali confessed to police that he used to send the woman some money.
“The girl, according to the suspect, had told him that she was organising her birthday party, which would happen soon. He said he sent her some money to arrange the event. Since then, the woman refused to pick his calls, said the suspect,” Kingi told journalists.
Kingi further stated that the man wanted to know why she was ignoring him and that is what prompted him to travel from Thika to Eldoret where he killed her outside Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Commenting on the murder, Passaris said Ivy did not deserve to die in such a manner.
“My deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of Ivy Wangechi. There’s absolutely nothing Ivy did or didn’t do to deserve the inhumane violence meted on her. I pray justice prevails. Over to you @DCI_Kenya #RIPIvy #EndFemicide #SayHerNameKe,” Passaris wrote on her Twitter page.
