If you go on to Google today you will find an image of the late Dr. Margaret Ogola, an award-winning author and paedatrician from Kenya.
Her famous novel The River and the Source was part of the syllabus for high school students for many years.
“Happy to celebrate Kenyan award-winning author, activist and doctor, the late Dr Margaret Ogola, author of The River and the Source. Which is your favourite quote from the book?” Google Africa said on Twitter.

Dr. Margaret would have been 60 years old today. She passed away in 2011 after a long battle with cancer.
Other books she wrote include Place of Destiny, I Swear by Apollo, Cardinal Otunga: A Gift of Grace and Educating in Human Love which she co-authored with her husband Dr. George Ogola.
On Wednesday, Google prompted Kenyans on Twitter to reply to the post with their favourite quotes from the book The River and the Source.
Below are some of the responses:
I've done anatomy & beneath the skin everyone is the same. Even the blood, which is supposed to be thicker than water, is all just a combination of iron & protein in every instance. Some pple r good /bad—it’s got very little to do with their BLOOD or TRIBE. It’s all in the HEART

And that is an achievement? Awuoro!!! That Doodle is meaningless and only visible in KE. Try using a VPN and you will see that the #GoogleDoodle is not visible outside Kenya.
