The Chavakali Boys rugby sevens team punched through all three of their opening matches in Pool A as they stamped their authority at the Vihiga County School Games on Thursday.
The defending champions crushed Kaptic High 36-0 in their opener before humiliating Esalwa 41-0 and edging arch-rivals Vihiga Boys 19-12 in a roaring start to their title defence bid.
Chavakali who enjoyed home advantage thus booked a place in the semis ahead of their final group match against Essongolo.
“We played very well. Out of hard work and working smart we were able to win now,” Chavakali head coach Nelson Mugera told Citizen Digital.
Meanwhile their fellow students in basketball arena could not afford to let their rugby fellows down as they successfully won their first two matches 65-31 against Senende and another 91-25 against Chavavo.
Chavakali who are also the defending champions will now be playing Hobunaka and Emusire tomorrow as they look forward to retaining the title.
