At the grand old age of 80, shosh is a woman who has won the hearts of many abroad, after her exploits as a sound technician were broadcast on international channels such as Al Jazeera.
Her real name isCecilia Kiminda and she fixes the audio, video and bluetooth systems for cars. She runs a company called “Shosh Sound Systems”, that has become a hit with many Nairobians.
She runs her company with her grandchildren. They employ 17 people at the moment, with several branches spread across Nairobi.
Her success does not end there. She is also a sound consultant at Ghetto Radio. The managing director, Maji Maji explained how much her expertise has helped the radio station, saying:
She moves around, talking to the DJ, helping the DJ with different techniques.
She spoke to Al Jazeera and described her success saying:
You can hear how good the sound system is when it plays? They (fans) are happy when they hear that I am the one who is fixing their sound system for them. I do my job with love and passion My abilities come from God.
Cecilia has refused to have her kids help her. Her reputation precedes her for being reliable and efficient. One of her clients, Susan Njeri was surprised when she found out how old and how good Shosh was:
I did not believe that she would be that old when I met her. But when she disassembled my car, I was stunned that an octogenarian could do it with such great work of dismantling and reassembling the car!
Susan added that she kept quiet and let Cecilia do what she was best at, which she did. Check out Cecilia’s captivating video below:
