Media personality Janet Mbugua is the latest female public figure to defend singer Akothee.
Akothee has been trending since last weekend after she pulled some erratic dance moves on stage. Many called her out claiming that she was setting a bad example to the youth.
Akothee’s supporters also came out to defend her and Nairobi Women’s Rep Esther Passaris told off those crucifying the singer for ‘doing her job’. Passaris tweeted:
You have a sick mind. Her private part was exposed only in your mind. On stage, I saw her sexy dance moves, her flexibility and her confidence in her skin. You saw her vagina through her costume and double stockings. You need help.
Janet Mbugua also supported Akothee and in her message, she spoke against sexists. Her message read:
He’s arrogant. And he’s sexist. @Akotheekenya you’ve stirred up a great debate and discussion about this whole ‘morality’ thing and many of us are with you.
Janet’s remarks were echoed by veteran politician Martha Karua also shared her sentiments on the same. Defending Akothee Martha tweeted:
Nobody is forced to watch, these are adult shows by an entertainer. Direct your anger at the club owner, not the entertainer.
Its called choice and some men too entertain in similar fashion including as strippers.
Political analyst Nerima Wako also shared her sentiments on the ongoing ‘morality’ debate and her message read:
The amount of bullying women receive online, I have garnered so much respect for them. Especially those who continue to do what they do. Blamed for marriages, blamed for not being role models & not allowed to be in leadership. Live your life! Let sheep talk you beautiful lioness!
Other celebrities who’ve publicly defended Akothee include Maina Kageni, Caroline Mutoko, and Johnstone Letoya.
