Kantai passed away on Wednesday. One of the last artistes to work with him was Khaligraph Jones.
Khaligraph and Kantai collaborated on the hit “Ting Badi Malo” in 2016. The song was a return to form for the veteran Kantai.
Khaligraph said Kantai’s death was unfortunate.
It is very unfortunate what happened. It is a big blow to the industry. I remember doing “Ting badi Malo with him, The media, you guys instead of shining the light on him, nobody was paying attention to him.

Khaligraph complained that people had ignored Kantai and were only paying attention to him after his death.

He said:
No one wanted to help him. Nyinyi watu wa media mlikata kumsaidia.
Khaligraph was of the opinion that speaking positively about Kantai was something the media should have done:
Kantai makes a comeback and he didn’t see the backing (from the media). Things that give someone motivation. The only thing that was on TV was dealing with his alcoholic past.

He also admitted that he regretted that he had not spoken to Kantai for over a year.
He eulogised Kantai as “a very good guy”.
