Kenyan You Tuber Maureen Waititu has opened up on how her father rejected her repeatedly, something that made her resentful.
Maureen said that her mother tried to push her towards her dad but that only made things worse between them.
Taking to her Instagram Maureen penned.
‘I am on a thinking spree and kindly indulge me.
Have you guys confronted or tackled your childhood traumas? Allow me to share something that I’ve been toying with for a while now.
When I started my healing journey, the first person I had to forgive was my mum. Though I know she didn’t know any better.
I constantly wish that she never pushed me to build a relationship with a man (my dad) who vehemently kept rejecting me till date.’
‘Through this trauma, I grew up with great fear of abandonment and rejection.
A lot makes sense now and in my quest to heal and make decisions that will make my kids’ lives better.
I urge all parents to deal with their issues and not to push those innocent little humans in the crossfire.
Maureen’s advise to everybody
Heal, move, reject, plan, sacrifice, seek help and do all you can to change the narrative for the future generations.
It all starts with us! Again, stop living like you’re stuck to a situation forever. Don’t confuse a season for a lifetime. EVERY SITUATION HAS AN EXPIRATION DATE.’
In the past, gospel artiste Guardian Angel had also opened up about not being in contact with his father for 30 years.
He went on to state that their first meeting after that was very awkward.
“I HAVE REALIzED THAT EVEN THOUGH HE HAD DIFFERENCES WITH MY MUM, HE IS STILL MY DAD AND I AM HAPPY NOW.
WE HAVE NEVER MET SO THAT I KNOW WHAT REALLY WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN THEM,” GUARDIAN ANGEL SAID.
Asked on what made him contact his dad after so long Guardian said
“I WAS MOVED BY A CHURCH SERMON BY OUR PASTOR, WHICH WAS ABOUT HONOURING OUR PARENTS,” GUARDIAN TOLD WORD IS.’
Well like Maureen advises it’s good to learn to let go of our baggage.
